Spoken Words
It all started when…
Appropri8 director Sarah caught the theatre bug many years ago, during a year out as an architecture student, drawn to theatre because of a love of language and the collaborative process of creating it. She went on to train as an actor at The Royal School of Speech and Drama, gaining a Diploma and going on to complete an MA at Central St Martins Drama Centre London.
Training at Drama Centre took Sarah to Moscow to study the Vakhtangov method, which focuses on physicality, energy, and the unique storytelling method of the etude.
We still incorporate these ideas in our practice today.
We aim to empower by helping people give voice to their stories. We aim to help people share their work with strong, clear engaging voices which illuminate their work. Bringing together techniques learnt from theatre and acting practice together with story-telling craft from film making. Telling a good story is all about finding and communicating a though line that both you and your audience can follow – it’s about engaging with and connecting with your audience be it one person or 100. We aim to share these tools in our Spoken Workshops.
